Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone Update: New Scrappage Scheme Opportunities
Dear Car Friend Community,
As part of our commitment to keeping you informed about automotive developments that might affect you, we want to share an important update regarding Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone (CAZ).
Birmingham City Council is extending a scrappage scheme designed to support residents within the CAZ. Initially launched in 2021, this initiative aims to reduce pollution and improve air quality by encouraging people to scrap non-compliant vehicles in exchange for a grant.
**What’s New?**
Eligible residents living within the zone’s boundary and receiving certain benefits can now apply for one of three grants:
1. A £1,000 scrappage grant plus £3,000 in public transport credits.
2. A £1,600 scrappage grant plus £1,500 in public transport credit.
3. A direct scrappage-only grant of £2,000.
This expanded scheme is a great opportunity for those looking to transition to cleaner, more sustainable modes of transport. It aligns with our own goals of promoting environmental responsibility and offering solutions that fit your lifestyle and needs.
**Why Does This Matter?**
The CAZ has been instrumental in reducing pollution levels in Birmingham city centre. However, with the removal of exemptions for residents inside the zone, it’s more important than ever to consider the sustainability of your vehicle.
If you’re affected by these changes, or simply interested in exploring more eco-friendly travel options, we’re here to help. Whether it’s finding a compliant vehicle or discussing the benefits of public transport, our team at Car Friend is dedicated to guiding you through your options and ensuring you make the best choice for you and the environment.
We understand that transitioning to a compliant vehicle or altering your travel habits can be challenging. But with these new grants, making a change could be more attainable than you think. If you have questions about the scrappage scheme or how to navigate the CAZ requirements, don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Together, we can contribute to a cleaner, healthier Birmingham while ensuring you remain safe and compliant on the roads.
Warm regards,
The Car Friend Team
