"Why is your quote higher than somewhere else?"

Because we quote what it'll actually cost.

That £400 quote? Wait until they've got your car in bits and suddenly the flywheel "needs doing" and the slave cylinder "might as well be replaced while we're in there." By then, what choice do you have?

We assess properly, include everything upfront, and 95% of our estimates come in at price or less. No awkward phone calls halfway through the job.

"Do you do clutch replacement? Flywheel, clutch plate, release bearing – the lot?"

Yes – the full job.

Clutch kit (friction plate, pressure plate, release bearing), flywheel inspection, gear oil, all new bolts. We've done hundreds of them across all makes and models.

If your flywheel needs replacing, we'll discuss it with you before doing any extra work. No surprises.

"How long does a clutch replacement take?"

Usually 1-2 days depending on your car.

Some simpler cars (Fiesta, Corsa) can be same-day if we get it early. Others – especially German cars and vans – take longer because everything's crammed in or bolted down with 47 different fasteners.

We'll give you a realistic timeframe when you book, not a fairy tale.

"How do I know if my clutch actually needs replacing?"

Common signs:

• Clutch slipping (revs go up, car doesn't accelerate)
• High bite point (pedal has to come right up)
• Difficulty getting into gear
• Burning smell after driving
• Juddering when pulling away

Not sure? We can diagnose it for you. Sometimes it's just the cable or hydraulics, which is much cheaper to fix. We won't sell you a clutch if you don't need one.

"Can I supply my own parts to save money?"

No – and here's why that actually protects you:

If we fit a clutch you bought online and it fails after 6 months, who's responsible? Was it a dodgy part? Fitted incorrectly? Wrong spec? Nobody knows, and you're stuck with no warranty.

When we supply and fit the parts, you get our full 12-month warranty. If anything goes wrong, we sort it. No arguments.

Plus, we pay trade prices you can't get. That "bargain" clutch kit on eBay for £180? We get the proper one for £150. You're not saving money, you're just losing your warranty.

"Why is clutch replacement so expensive?"

It's the labour, not the parts.

The gearbox has to come out to replace the clutch. On some cars that's 4 hours, on others it's 12+. The clutch kit itself is usually £150-£300 – it's the skilled labour that makes up most of the bill.

That's also why you want it done right first time. Getting the gearbox out twice because someone bodged it? That's when it gets really expensive.
